Performance Management

Definition

Performance management is a management methodology () that translates the strategic vision of an organization into a comprehensive hierarchy of quantifiable performance goals. Consistent communication and reinforcement of these goals aligns the energies and activities of all staff with the achievement of planned results. Key performance indicators (KPI's), or critical success factors are regularly collected and communicated organization-wide. The basis of the performance management system is the global best-practice plan-do-check-act cycle (PDCA), which forms the basis of ISO 9000, continual improvement, and other quality and operational excellence management systems.
